Not busy at all, no nurses at desk to ask questions, no doctor to talk to.....all alone, only person in twice was lady to "make sure billing address was correct." The took x day of her hip, because "elderly usually hurt hip after a fall" and checked neck, never looked her ALL over at all. She was sent home with 2 broken bones in ankle!. After over a week of complaints that she couldn't walk, she hurt, I had to get her a walker, soft slippers, she was swollen, it was black and blue. I thought just sprained, took to family doctor, she knew what was wrong right away, orders x rays,. Mom is 86, in a cast 8 weeks seeing orthopedic doctor from St.Joes incompetence. She had to sleep in this heavy cast, she couldn't sleep, miserable. Family doctor ask, and I quote... " what hospital sent her home like this!" (Quote)
Tonight they have went above and beyond to help me. They've taking my anxiety disorder as a real thing and they are doing everything they can to assure I'm okay. There checking my heart, lungs, Blood, they have done a CT Because of something else there worried about. They're treating me like my problems matter. I've went to UK For all my heart issues or any issue really and that place (ER/ED) is a joke. The nurses and other staff make fun of you.. They don't really care there.. But here its honestly amazing... The nurse named Alexandria is the utmost best so far..
This is the WORST for ER care. My elderly mother taken in by squad after a fall. I met her there, as squad leaving. We were there over 5 hours! Not one doctor, Dr. Blake on duty I was told ( never saw him) and a Mary Brenyo PA, (never saw her)... neither came to see me or tell me their findings, nothing. No one talked to me or my mother, not one.. Never put in a gown for physical exam, never had shoes taken off for exam, never offered water, I had to SEARCH for someone to help her with using bathroom, had to ask for blanket, she was very cold, had to ask for pillow, on a gurney 5 hours, the male nurse lied, said was "up stairs covering for someone "...when he came back over hour later hot and sweaty, found out they "never have a nurse leave ER to cover upstairs", he had been outside, he outright lies and left post. Came back hot and sweaty, and then to lie to me he had been upstairs covering for another nurse.
First, this ER deserves 0 stars. Call State Attorney General Office with neglect. Also reported to several other businesses for the caring of ones in hospitals.
Lesson learned. If paramedics won't send own family here, that itself speaks volumes.
I've been here in the waiting room with my husband for 5 hours now. He's having severe abdominal pain. We are typically patient people, but this length of time is beyond understandable. Even after speaking with reception again, I'm told there are patients waiting to be discharged, patients waiting to be transported upstairs, and yet other beds are available, but haven't been turned over (cleaned). In other words, the staff is not running efficIently. Not even close. Just to have the opportunity to lie down (since sitting and walking are excruciating for him), which we've requested, has been denied. Add the temperature of the waiting room at 77 degrees, and you've got a very miserable group of patients. We've seen three get up and leave because of all of this. If we didn't think he'd need surgery, we would, too. Insane.
( I have since had TWO squad men tell me they don't recommend St Joe, either of them, to go to Central Baptist, that's where they take their family members or " go to UK for some time butevere trama. "Never go to St. Joe, do not recommend", and these guys don't know each other, this is their professional opinion.
I had 3 friends loved ones die in this ER, my nephew died waiting for help in this ER, and girlfriends husbands died in this ER. No care, no empathy, in it for money....they took moms money right away and refuse to give part back even though NO physical exam, and sent home with 2 broken bones. Needless to say, if you go here, expect no care and won't see a doctor. Just wants insurance money, no personal care at all, won't talk to patients, does not deserve to be a doctor, no exam, sending elderly home with broken bones. Just collects insurance money. Please go to another hospital, our entire family is from now on. Emergency papers changed to Central Baptist.
Some of the experience great, most of it, terrible. Although the wait to get into the emergency room is long and the process is frustrating the emergency room staff seems to do their job, and some of them are very kind. After leaving the emergency room its all up in the air. My boyfriend was moved to a upper floor and was forgotten for 8 hours. Not just forgotten, but they didn't even know he was there. His info got lost in a shift change, and he could've been dying for all they knew, we even turned off his vitals, called the nurses multiple times, and contacted a IT nurse. It was only through the Technician they ever found out we were even there. Absolute disregard for people. Our ER nurses, great, love them. But so much more needs to be done. So much can be improved.
I hated to even give it one star. The nursing staff was horrible. Certain young nurses made fun of me. They refused to look at my IV site for pain meds. Every time I pushed the button for pain meds it ran down my arm. I mentioned it to the night nurse who replied, yea, the other nurse said you’d complain about that and she said it was in place. I had zero pain meds for over 24 hours. I never had a privacy curtain in my room. I had to use a bedside commode and my backside was facing to door. How humiliating. I left basically AMA. My surgeons PA tried to talk me into staying a couple of more days. I had to get home just to get pain meds on a routine basis. Horrible place.
