Great value for a tour. $20 admission is good for multiple days, which you will need to see everything the park offers. This includes riding a draft horse trolley, meeting retired thoroughbreds (Funny Cide is currently in residence, among others) or having a little quality time with the draft horses and their barn cat, Hans. The museums are well curated and informational, the campground is lovely and very close to the workout pasture, and the two restaurants serve great food.
As some of you don't know, I'm a big horse lover and I have always wanted to go to Kentucky and see the Kentucky Derby race track and the Kentucky Horse park. So I finally got to both the Kentucky Horse Park and the Kentucky Derby Race Track (at night) and for me it was a one in a lifetime experience. I have 3 horses. I board in Ocala and I do Competitive Barrel Racing and Jumping. Every weekend I spend my days at the stables or out trail riding Ocala's many scenic trails. So, If you love horses or have never been to Kentucky. Go!!! :)
A must for anyone that loves horses. Nice shows, nice people and a good way to get close to horses and learn of their history.
Fascinating horses so many breeds and nice participating shows
If you really, really like horses...this is the place. Very clean and well kept. The shows are interesting and the trail riding is enjoyable. There isn't many places to get water or food...so plan accordingly. Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be in the sun most of your visit. Plan to spend 4 or more hours if you want to see all the shows and tour the grounds and exhibits. My only complaint is the gift shop...everything is extremely overpriced...and that took one star away from this review. Spending almost $30 for a t-shirt or $50 for a long sleeve woman's night shirt is a lot considering the merchandise. Everything from fudge to model horses, clothes, bags, jewellery, mementos, is very highly priced. And there are no discounts (military or otherwise) offered.
